RYAN SHAZIER CHOOSES BUCKEYES

Ryan Shazier
PLANTATION, Fla. — Plantation (FL) High School linebacker Ryan Shazier will play his collegiate football for The Ohio State University, the class of 2011 star announced on Friday evening at a graduation dinner in his hometown.

He selected the Buckeyes over LSU and Florida.

Shazier, who was originally committed to Florida — until head coach Urban Meyer resigned last week — visited Ohio State on Wednesday and apparently liked what he saw in Columbus, as he decommitted from UF and selected the OSU in the same day.

Shazier, an Under Armour All-American, will enroll at Ohio State in January so he will be able to compete for a position in spring camp. Shazier is projected as an outside linebacker.

The Plantation product will not travel to Columbus alone as his high school teammate, safety Jeremy Cash, is also a Buckeyes commit and will enroll at OSU as well next month.

Shazier is the 19th commitment for Ohio State in the class of 2011.
