— Wisconsin struck first on an 8-play, 69-yard drive led by quarterback Russell Wilson. He connected with Badgers running back Montee Ball on a 22-yard pass to open the scoring for the game, 7-0.
— The Buckeyes didn't muster a score in the first quarter. They squandered opportunities, including a drop on a third down pass by the usually sure-handed tight end Jake Stoneburner.
— On the only score of the quarter, OSU kicker Drew Basil kicked a 39-yard field goal that hit the left upright and bounced in, pulling the Wisconsin lead to 7-3 with 2:55 to play before intermission.
— Once again the Ohio State defense brought it in the second quarter. Junior defensive tackle John Simon sacked Wilson on a huge third-and-five a minute to play in the half.
— After a brief possession by OSU, Wisconsin got the ball back hoping for a field goal before the break, only to be denied by the stingy Bucks defense. Defensive tackle Adam Bellamy sacked the Badger quarterback to close out the half.
— The beginning of the second half started off with a boom ... literally. Senior running back Daniel "Boom" Herron scampered for a 57-yard run down to the Wisconsin 18. He added an 18-yard run to the Badger 1 two plays later. After a touchdown run by Herron was overturned, Buckeyes freshman quarterback Braxton Miller — on fourth and goal from the Badgers 1 — did a play action boot, eluded a Wisconsin defender, and walked into the end zone for the Buckeyes' first touchdown of the day and a 10-7 lead.
— On the ensuing series for Wisconsin, the special teams made a huge play, as freshman linebacker Ryan Shazier blocked a Badgers punt inside the 20. The ball would be recovered by another freshman linebacker Curtis Grant at the Badgers' 1. Junior tailback Jordan Hall scored a few plays later on a two-yard run, putting the Buckeyes ahead 17-7.
— Ohio State's defense forced Wisconsin to punt again. However, this time it was the Badgers taking advantage on special teams after recovering a Hall muffed punt at the OSU 27.
— On a 3rd-and-4 at the OSU 21, Wisconsin receiver Jared Abbrederis made a nice grab for 12 yards inside the 10. The great snag eventually led to a Ball 1-yard score. The OSU lead was cut to 17-14 going in to the fourth quarter.
— OSU's Christian Bryant comes up with a big jarring hit on Jacob Pederson during a third and long play. The hit forced Wisconsin to punt for the seventh time in the game.
— Six straight runs by Herron ended in a 22-yard field goal by Basil, extending the Buckeyes' lead to 20-14 with 10:39 left in the game.
— The defense stepped up once more when linebacker Andrew Sweat stuffed Ball forcing the turnover on downs.
— Miller continued to impress with his feet scoring on a 44-yard dash and score right through the heart of the Wisconsin defense for the 26-14 lead. OSU went for the two-point conversion that failed on an incomplete pass from Miller.
— Wisconsin's Montee Ball takes a 40-yard draw play to the Buckeyes' 17. Next play it was Wilson hitting Abbrederis for the touchdown reception. So the back and forth battle played on with the Buckeye lead now 26-21.
— Wisconsin was the next to score. The Buckeye defense finally showed a little chink in the armor on blown coverage by the secondary. At midfield, a Wilson to Abbrederis TD connection took the breath away from the patrons in the "shoe" — even if for a brief moment. They added the 2-point conversion and with just 1:10 left in the contest, the Badgers possessed a 29-26 advantage.
—Panic began to set in for the crowd but it was the young, calm, cool and collected Miller scrambling to his right and finding wide receiver Devin Smith in the end zone for the 40-yard go ahead score.
— The Badgers would have three plays in hopes of making a comeback, only to fall short when Sweat hit Wilson as he was passing, forcing the football to fall incomplete as time expired.
— Ohio State with the 33-29 win moves to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten, while Wisconsin falls to 7-2 (3-2).
