TRUE OR FALSE: WILL NOTRE DAME WIN IT ALL? MEYER TOP COACH?

AP Photo
When I was a kid taking tests in school, I loved the true and false questions. I mean, how easy is it to know one is an absolute fact, and the other is blatant lie.

So, I am going to give my readers a small five question true or false test on college football. (The grading key will be supplied at the end of test)

Here we go ...

BUCKEYES END IN PERFECTION

COLUMBUS — Ohio State honored it's 2002 national championship team on Saturday afternoon at Ohio Stadium by doing what that triumphant squad accomplished 10 years ago ...

They won them all!

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, 'THE GAME' MEANS MORE THAT EVER

TBT/Darla Duunkle-Hudnell
COLUMBUS — This season's installment of "The Game" has all kinds of tasty story lines.

Being that No. 4 Ohio State (11-0, 7-0 Big Ten) is ineligible to participate in this year's post-season, Saturday's finale against rival Michigan (8-3, 6-1) has gone from heated, to making the sun feel like a giant block of ice.

The showdown with the No. 20 Wolverines is not only considered an unofficial bowl game for the Buckeyes, it's also their opportunity to achieve perfection — a thumb and nose to the folks who said the program was dead.

BUCKEYES SENIOR CLASS VERY SPECIAL TO URBAN MEYER

John Simon

COLUMBUS — Although Urban Meyer has only been with this year's Ohio State senior class for one season, it doesn't prevent him from labeling them as one of his favorite groups ever.

Coming into this season, Meyer didn't know many of them at all, and when it was announced that the Buckeyes would be prohibited from participating in postseason play, the new head coach didn't know what to expect.

BUCKEYES REMAIN PERFECT ON THE SEASON, WIN LEADERS DIVISION TITLE

Associated Press
MADISON, Wisc. — On Saturday in Madison, the old saying "defense wins championships" rang oh, so, true.

Well, de facto championships, that is.

After Wisconsin forced overtime with a touchdown in the waning seconds of regulation, the Buckeyes easily moved the football across the chalk for the go ahead score on the opening series of the extra period, when tailback Carlos Hyde plunged through from two yards out.

Then it was the defense's turn ...

COLUMBUS — Wisconsin (7-3, 4-2 Big Ten) has already clinched a berth in the conference championship game as the Leaders Division representative.

Sixth-ranked and unbeaten Ohio State (10-0, 6-0) is the top team in the division standings, but is ineligible to participate in the Big Ten title game due to NCAA sanctions.

URBAN MEYER SAID THE BUCKEYES DON'T NEED A CARROT RIGHT NOW

TBT/Darla Dunkle-Hudnell
COLUMBUS — Earlier in the season, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said that he may have to create some sort of bowl-like situation for his Buckeyes since they were banned from post-season play in 2012 by the NCAA.

With OSU undefeated at 10-0 (6-0 Big Ten), with just two games to play this season, you would think the first-year Buckeye boss would certainly have something creative up his sleeve in terms of motivation — a carrot, if you will.

URBAN MEYER'S BEST COACHING PERFORMANCE OF HIS CAREER? YES!

Urban Meyer

Prior to arriving at Ohio State this season, Urban Meyer was already known as a winner.

In 10 seasons as a collegiate head football coach  — at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida — Meyer won 104 of the 127 games he had coached in, including five conference championships and two national titles. He has never had a losing season, and usually turns suffering programs around quite expeditiously.

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED, SABINO RETURNS TO PRACTICE FIELD

Ohio State linebacker Etienne Sabino (6). TBT/Darla Dunkle-Hudnell
COLUMBUS — With just two games remaining on Ohio State's quest for perfection, the No. 5 Buckeyes (10-0, 6-0 Big Ten) are using their bye week to stay sharp, but also to mend after 10 straight weeks of grinding.

And no position is more important to the Buckeyes' stretch run than at linebacker, a unit that has been battered and bruised in recent weeks.

Well, that group just got a bit stronger, as senior strongside linebacker Etienne Sabino is back on the practice field after missing the last four games with a fractured right fibula.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller had another Heisman Trophy-like performance Saturday and tailback Carlos Hyde rode roughshod over the Illinois defense, as the Buckeyes (10-0, 6-0 Big Ten) rolled to a 52-22 victory to remain unbeaten and atop the Leaders Division.

In a week where Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer stated that the passing game must improve, Miller recorded 299 total yards and three touchdowns in a little more than three quarters of play, including 226 yards and two scores through the air.

UNBEATEN BUCKEYES READY FOR UPSET-MINDED ILLINI THIS TIME

Michael Thomas, left, and Braxton Miller (AP)
COLUMBUS — Most will look at Saturday's college football tilt between No. 6 Ohio State (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten) and Illinois as simply a sparring session for the undefeated Buckeyes.

Of course, none of those thoughts are resonating from the OSU locker room — they understand that Illinois (2-6, 0-4) can certainly play the role of David. In fact, the last time the Buckeyes were unbeaten this late in the season (10-0 in 2007), it was the Illini who came into Ohio Stadium and handed the hosts their head.
