IF FOOTBALL IS TOO DANGEROUS, DON'T PLAY! PROBLEM SOLVED

President Obama
Player safety in the game of football has become a sizzling topic recently.

There have been scientific studies made that have shown where players who have suffered head injuries have had many side effects once they step away from the game.

Take former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau for instance. He committed suicide last May at the age of 43.

THERE'S NO ROOM FOR ADULTS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Ezekiel Elliott
In the world of college football recruiting, the words "verbal commitment," is like a high school girl saying, "OMG, I'm in love."

Each are uttered frequently, many carry little lasting value.

The truth is, when you are dealing with 17- and 18-year old KIDS, you can't rely on their word as gospel. They make impulse decisions. They think the entire world resides in the moment. I mean, I have a 17-year old niece who has had a "love of my life" three times in the past three months for crying out loud.

I WANT TO BELIEVE TE'O, BUT ...

Te'o, right, speaking to Couric.

It is easy to believe that Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o was a victim of "catfishing" after appearing on Katie Couric's talk show Thursday afternoon.

It is easy to think he was elaborately duped by a person who created a persona that the star football player thought was the love of his life. One, who he believed had passed away of leukemia on Sept. 12.

SO WHO IS GOING TO BAN NCAA?

Wait ... am I hearing this correctly? The NCAA is guilty of improper conduct?

You mean this fine house of integrity hasn't been as law-abiding as they command from their member institutions? Wow, if not the NCAA, then who can we trust?

IS NOTRE DAME'S MANTI TE'O AN IMBECILE? OR IS THERE MORE TO IT?

Manti Te'o
Notre Dame star linebacker Manti Te'o is either the most harebrained person on the planet, or a con artist of Charles Ponzi proportions.

Most are insisting it's the latter.

However, instead of accusing Te'o of being a con man, I am going to take his and Notre Dame's claim that the Irish linebacker was a victim of a cruel hoax, one which involved the death of his supposed girlfriend back in September, that gripped a nation with emotion, and catapulted him into household name status.

URBAN MEYER'S APPROACH IS STRICTLY FOR MOTIVATION

Miller, left, and Meyer

COLUMBUS — When asked about the possibility of going undefeated again, and reaching a national championship next season, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer answered the question in his usual uncompromisingly forthright manner.

"No, probably not," he said. "Unless we get a lot better.

"Like a LOT better.”

BUCKEYE FANS SHOULDN'T BE ASKING 'WHAT IF,' BUT WHAT WILL BE

AP Photo
After watching Alabama lay a beating on Notre Dame Monday night in the BCS Championship game, I couldn't help but wonder ... what if?

What if ... Ohio State AD Gene Smith would have imposed a one-year bowl ban last season, forgoing a trip to the Gator Bowl in hopes the NCAA would be satisfied with the punishment for accepting improper benefits, and the cover-up which ensued?
