MEYER LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD PLAYMAKERS THIS OFFSEASON

Urban Meyer (AP)
COLUMBUS — While the competition at quarterback seems to be the pressing issue when evaluating the 2015 Ohio State football team, it is certainly not the only item on the agenda.

Finding play-makers to replace departing stars like Devin Smith, Evan Spencer and Jeff Heuerman is perhaps the most important task this offseason in Columbus.

Sure, the Buckeyes definitely aren't void of play-making talent. They still have the best running back in the country residing on their roster in Ezekiel Elliott. They still have two top NFL prospects junior wide receiver Michael Thomas and junior tight end Nick Vannett, and up-and-coming wideout Corey Smith. And they still have the all-around explosiveness on the edges with receivers Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson.

I DO NOT ENVY URBAN MEYER

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer (AP Photo)
COLUMBUS — At the beginning of spring football practice earlier this month, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was asked how he expected the impending quarterback battle between Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones to play out.

Meyer essentially shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know."

And how could he know?

BUCKEYES ADD TWO MORE QBS TO AN ALREADY LOADED STABLE

Joey Burrow (AP)
When it comes to the quarterback position, Ohio State may have a monopoly.

With three of the best signal callers in the nation season currently on their roster — Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett and Braxton Miller — you would think the task of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer persuading great high school quarterbacks to choose the Buckeyes at the moment would be as difficult as taking down the top two teams in the country in consecutive games.

MICHIGAN FANS NEED TO SLOW THEIR ROLL ... HARBAUGH ISN'T MEYER

Jim Harbaugh (AP)
When asked about the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as head coach of his alma mater, the University of Michigan, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady uttered a statement that unfortunately has become the common sentiment of most supporters of the Wolverines.

"Hopefully we can figure out how to beat Ohio State," Brady said during Super Bowl XLIX Media Day in Phoenix.

THIS COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON MADE ME HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!

Urban Meyer (AP)
I have been a huge fan of college football for more than 30 years, and I have never witnessed a season that's made me as happy as the 2014 campaign.

Sure, many will say I feel that way because I'm an Ohio State alum, and the Buckeyes winning the national title doesn't exactly help my objectivity.

I am not going to lie, it is very special to me to see them take the crown. I was born about 50 miles from campus, slept in a crib the first night of my life donning OSU gear and hugging a stuffed football that played music from the best damn band in the land. My parents have always been huge fans. My sisters, my cousins, my entire family were diehards.

BUCKEYES WILL OUTMATCH DUCKS IN INAUGURAL CFP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

DALLAS — If you would have told me in mid-August — following news that senior quarterback Braxton Miller would miss the entire season — that Ohio State would make it to the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship game in Dallas some five months later, I would have been scurrying for my bag of magic beans to sell you.

Following the Buckeyes' two-touchdown loss to Virginia Tech in September, if you would have told me the Buckeyes were still going to the title game, I would have reserved a room for you, equipped with padded walls and 24-hour surveillance by top medical professionals.

But ... here we are.
